As part of our Peru hotels blog series, this week we’re taking a look at some of the finest Cuzco Peru hotels. We’ve hand-picked these hotels and consistently rates them 4* & 5* quality because of the great feedback we receive from our clients, and because of the excellent cost-to-benefit ratio.
One of the most popular choices for luxury Cuzco hotels is El Monasterio, the perennial favorite because of its ambiance and timeless qualities. Built in a 16th-century monastery, El Monasterio is indeed a wonderful luxury Cuzco hotel choice. But there are plenty of 5* quality Cuzco hotels that offer much better cost-to-benefit ratios that the El Monasterio.
The Hotel Novotel Cuzco is one of the best 5* Cuzco hotel choices because of its elegance and affordability. Well-situated in the center of downtown Cuzco, near the Plaza de Armas, the Novotel was built into a 16th-century colonial mansion, and much of the original architecture has been preserved. There are 99 bedrooms including 16 luxurious colonial-style suites, which boast original architecture and incredible ambiance. The courtyard dining area will whisk you back in time as you gaze upon the stone archways and balconies. There is also a restaurant, cafe, and bar on the premises.
Another recommended Cuzco Peru hotel is the 5* Casa Cartagena, also centrally-located in downtown Cuzco, about 200 meters from the Plaza de Armas. Built in a historic Inca-era building, the Casa Cartagena has been meticulously restored to maintain its architectural heritage as much as possible. The walls were restored using the same materials as the Incas used – mud brick, adobe, and stone. There are 16 spacious suites, each outfitted with oxygen systems, LCD televisions, mp3 dock stations, wi-fi, Tatami showers, and bathtubs with mineral salts. The hotel also boasts an Inca-style Qoya Spa and a gourmet restaurant.
The 5* Aranwa Boutique is another excellent choice for your stay in Cuzco Peru. New and luxurious, the Aranwa Boutique has great quality at a competitive price range. Built in a colonial mansion from the 16th century, this Cuzco hotel is only 2 blocks from the Plaza de Armas. Its interior decor includes paintings from the Cuzco School of Art, colonial-era sculptures, and other original artwork. The guest rooms are all oxygen-equipped and decked out with luxurious amenities such as marble-tiled bathrooms with heated floors and Scottish showers. All rooms have free wi-fi, satellite televisions, iPod dock stations and CD players, and mini-bars. The hotel offers free wi-fi, a business center, and a full-service health spa (coming soon). There’s also an elegant Mishti restaurant and Khasikay Bar.
