Explore the Northeast Brazil Beaches & Coastal deserts on our Brazil Beach Tour from Fortaleza to Lençóis Maranhenses.

northeast-brazil-beachesBrazil is the largest country in South America with the largest coastline, spanning over 7,490 km from the Guyuanas to Uruguay.  If you’re looking for a spectacular Brazil beach vacation consider visiting all 6 of these northeast Brazil beaches on our Coastal Deserts & Northern Beaches of Brazil Tour.  The Northeast region of Brazil is set in an area where the warm Atlantic Ocean gives way to beautiful coastal deserts, national parks, vast beaches.   This region is also home to one of the most cultural and historical cities in Brazil.  On this Brazilian Beaches & Lençóis Maranhenses Luxury Adventure Tour we combine the best destinations for a unique Brazil beach vacation.  Experience adventure at the national parks, historical sightseeing and relaxation in luxury hotels.

Fortaleza & Guajiru

Fortaleza is the perfect starting point to visit the northeast Brazil beaches.  Fortaleza is one of the most popular coastal towns in Brazil and is one of Brazil´s largest cities.  Fun fact, in 2014, Fortaleza was one of the host cities of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.  Relax on the white sandy beach of Iracema or wander through the town’s museums.  From Fortaleza, travel north towards Guajiru, and enjoy two days in a luxury hotel.  Explore this small, but famous fisherman village and feel the Brazilian culture.

Located 300 KM west of Fortaleza is a small fishing village, home to some of the best weather conditions for windsurfing and kite surfing. Jericoacoara, better known as “Jeri,” is one of Brazil´s last hidden treasures and has some of the best beaches in the country.  Since 1984, the area around Jericoacoara was declared an Environmental Protection Area (APA) and then in 2002, it became a National Park. Because of this, new tourism and construction restrictions have been put in place in order to help preserve the area.   These changes have made Jericoacoara even more spectacular and are definitely one of the northeast Brazil beaches you must see.

Por-do-Sol San Dunes

The sand dunes surrounding Jericoacoara are very common of this area of Brazil.  Here you will find beautiful crystal clear lagoons, perfect for swimming. Relax in a hammock and enjoy the picturesque area. In the evening, head to the Por-do-Sol sand dunes to watch the sunset over the ocean. Sunsets over the Brazilian coast are a rare sight because most of the Brazilian coastline faces east.

Delta do Parnaíba

North of Jericoacoara, you will find the Delta area and its capital city, Parnaíba. This is a pleasantly decaying colonial port and is the ideal starting point for visiting the Delta. The Delta is a natural paradise best known for their exotic animals and sand dunes.  I recommend taking a short boat cruise through the delta for the ultimate Delta do Parnaíba experience.  With all the trees and verdant landscape, you’ll feel like you are entering the jungle.  This is not your typical beach, but that’s what makes it one of my favorite northeast Brazil beaches.

Barreirinhas – National Part of Lençóis Maranhenses

Travel to Barreirinhas, the perfect starting point to the famous National Park of Lençóis Maranhenses.  Lençóis Maranhenses is a land of never-ending sand dunes and freshwater lagoons.  Enjoy the beautiful blue-green lagoons.  Be sure to visit Lagoa Azul and Lagoa dos Peixes, my two favorite lagoons for swimming.  If you are feeling adventurous, sign up for a 4×4 Jeep excursion through the sand dunes to the trailhead of Preguicas River.  When travelers mention the northeast Brazil beaches, Barreirinhas always comes to mind.

São Luís

The final destination of the tour, São Luís, the capital and largest city in the state of Maranhao.  São Luís is a UNESCO protected city, with a historical center that was founded by France in 1612.  São Luís is nicknamed “The Tiles City” since many of the historical buildings are covered in beautiful brightly colored tiles.  I recommend spending at least two days to explore the old town.  This is the perfect ending to any Brazil beach vacation tour.
