Get up close and personal with this incredible ecosystem
We may write about the Amazon River and rainforest a lot, but it’s for good reason. The region is one of the most unique and distinctive places on the planet. People contact us all the time wanting to know more about this vast wilderness, which covers more than two million square miles and reaches into no less than five South American countries.
There are certainly many ways to experience the rainforest and all of the rare plants and animals it has to offer. We believe the best way is to strike out on your own in a kayak for the chance to break away from the pack and go where you want. Imagine coasting along the smooth surface of a massive river with the sun on your face, smelling the plants of the jungle just yards from the tip of your paddle, and hearing the calls of birds and other mysterious wildlife buried further in. Maybe your goal is to spot as many rare species as possible, or perhaps you just want to close your eyes for a minute and let your other senses take in the amazing surroundings.

The Amazon is a ton of fun no matter what you choose to do. Whether you are fishing for piranha or swimming in safer (and piranha-free) parts of the river; walking through the jungle on a guided tour or putting your feet up in a hammock, you really can’t go wrong. But we have to recommend the individual kayak for a personal and intimate experience like no other. You most certainly won’t regret it.
