These are manmade islands built by the local peoples by stacking piles of reeds on top of one another until they have a floating platform.  The Uros peoples live their lives on these islands, they have constructed homes, churches, schools and even reed boats that they use to travel from island to island.  It is an awesome adventure to see how the Uros live their daily lives floating on Lake Titicaca.
