Après-ski, head to the town of Caviahue, which rests at the base of the Copahue Volcano along the shores of Lake Caviahue. The town continues to evolve with new restaurants and shops, while still preserving its original charm.

If you avoid the peak holiday period in July, lift tickets are inexpensive and Caviahue accommodation is reasonably priced compared to other Argentina ski areas.

Chapelco Ski Resort – Neuquén Province, Argentina

Chapelco Ski Resort is named after the Chapelco Mountain itself and is located in southwestern Argentina. Tourists often choose this ski resort due to its proximity to San Martin de los Andes, one of Argentina’s most charming Lake District villages. The region has not gone through any severe deforestation, which means tree skiing is bountiful and at its peak. Chapelco offers 11 lifts for skiers and snowboarders, including a brand-new, high-speed quad and a gondola. Beginner, intermediate and advanced runs are spread across the mountain.

There are runs specifically for beginners and intermediate riders, as well as off-piste tracks for experts looking for a thrill. Cerro Catedral Ski Resort – San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina

Cerro Catedral Ski Resort prides itself as the largest and most developed ski resort in South America. At 1,200 hectares, Cerro Catedral has the largest lift-accessed ski terrain on the continent. Best suited for intermediate and advanced riders, this mega ski resort has 1,150 meters of vertical drop and 120 km of slopes. There is an abundance of hotels and hostels for visitors to stay, as well as ski schools for all ages, levels, and styles. At night, explore the quaint town which has a little bit of everything: bars, cybercafes, snacks, pubs, traditional and international restaurants.
