Sample Itinerary

A small town with colorful houses is nestled in a green valley near El Chalten, surrounded by rocky cliffs and distant mountains under a bright blue sky—perfect for joining a trekking tour.
Day 1

Fly into the El Calafate airport and greet your Patagonia tour guide to escort you to the bus station for the journey to El Chaltén. Check into your lodge in El Chaltén for the night which is a traditional Patagonian-style hostel inspired by 20th-century estancias.

Dramatic mountain peaks, including a tall sunlit summit, rise above rugged dark rocks and snowy slopes under a clear blue sky—an iconic scene from an El Chalten trekking tour near El Calafate.
Day 2

Wake up early this morning and follow your Patagonia tour guide to the trailhead for a full-day Laguna de los Tres excursion. Start off with a 2-hour hike of moderate difficulty. From El Chaltén, trek to the Poincenot camping site, the starting point for the trek. Ascend a steep but short incline of 400m, pass by moraines and take in incredible views of the Laguna de los Tres and the adjacent river of frozen ice. Continue to the Sucia Lagoon embraced by a ring of striking glaciers. Admire the sunrise over the icy, white landscape and the light appearing above the Mount Fitz Roy peak. Then trace the tracks of footsteps back to the Poincenot camping site and return to El Chaltén in the late afternoon. Unwind and relax at your hotel in the evening.

A scenic view of a small town, reminiscent of El Chalten, with colorful houses nestled at the base of rocky hills, a river and grassy banks in the foreground—an inviting spot for any trekking tour under a partly cloudy sky.
Day 3

Rise with the sun again and board a bus to El Calafate. Check into your hotel and recover from the hike the day before. Then venture out to explore the area, enjoy an evening meal in the town or dine at the hotel's restaurant.

Close-up view of the front section of a white airplane on an airport tarmac in Argentina, the Land of Contrast, showing its cockpit windows, nose, one engine, and landing gear.
Day 4

After this short but memorable trekking tour, transfer to the El Calafate airport today for your flight to Buenos Aires or to your next destination.
