Mendoza has two wine areas, and they make for different days. One is around the city. The other is the Uco Valley, about 100 km (60 mi) south, where alluvial soil and a sunny climate give the wines their character, Malbec above all. This tour extension visits both: three wineries near Mendoza, three in the Uco Valley.
You stay at one lodge or hotel, so there is no repacking. A guided city tour opens the trip, two winery days follow with lunch at the wineries and tastings included, and the last night is a farewell dinner at a top restaurant downtown, drinks included. Mendoza calls itself the land of the sun and good wine. By day four you will see why.

A local guide meets you at Mendoza Airport and transfers you to your lodge or hotel. That is the whole schedule for the day. Walk into the city if you have the energy, or stay in and recover from the journey. The wineries start tomorrow, and the first stop is the city itself.
Today is a guided tour of Mendoza, a good way to see the city before you see the vineyards. You pass the main buildings, walk through the green public squares, and hear why wine matters so much in this region. The Andes stand close behind the city, so keep the camera handy. Then it is back to the lodge to rest before two full winery days.
Three wineries around Mendoza today. At each you see how the grapes are grown, picked and turned into wine, and you taste your way through the red varieties, Malbec included. Around noon there is a traditional Argentine lunch. After that you head back to the lodge, and the evening is yours to spend as you like.
Today you drive about 100 km (60 mi) from Mendoza to the Uco Valley. Its alluvial soil and steady sunshine shape the wines, and three vineyards show you how. You taste as you go, and lunch is at one of the wineries' restaurants, paired with some of their most popular wines. Back at the lodge, rest for a while, then dress up. The farewell dinner is at a top restaurant downtown, drinks included.
After breakfast you are transferred to Mendoza Airport. From there the trip carries on, either elsewhere in Argentina or to another destination in South America.
